*01 Online Brochures

It surprises me how many companies overlook the value of reproducing their brochures online. It doesn’t take much effort to reproduce all of your printed material (handouts, instructions, workbooks, and catalogs) into an electronic format and make them available through your web site.

By converting these resources in a format such as Adobe Acrobat your materials will be easily available to your customers. If a customer has a question about a product, you can refer them to the online file. The customer can then read it online or print it if they want a paper copy for their records. This can be done live on the phone or by e-mail, cutting printing costs and increasing efficiency.

If you haven’t looked into using this simple idea, please give it try.

*02 Killing Wrinkles

While I was ironing my shirt for work today, (Yes, I iron my own shirts, although my wife volunteers. She also works 60 hours per week, and she doesn't need the extra hassle - although she is better and more meticulous at ironing than I am), I suddenly recalled a poem that I wrote years ago called "Killing Wrinkles".

That poem is a piece of serendipity, yet it brings to mind 3 things that one needs to recall that one has to do if one wants to stay in business:

-1.You have to hang in there and kill the wrinkles, if you really want them out.

-2.Why do you want them out in the first place?

-3.If you really want them out, then is the process, (in this case ironing) really worth the time and effort?

Entrenureulship is a very strange and dynamic procedure. It requires goals, dedication and, above all, belief in oneself, and in the principle by which one does endeavor. I am not going to expound upon the benefits and dynamics of capitalism, as I happen to believe that one should benefit from one's efforts, but I also understand the concepts of socialism as an idealistic and benevolent society.

The recent issues of the CEOs and CFOs and CPAs, etc., etc, is a total lack of ethics, which is therefore a lack of understanding. How cannot one treat an individual they way in which he wants to be treated himself? Why does one cheat, lie, or steal? Not to attempt to delve into religion here, but probably the most often quoted verse in the Bible is "Do unto others.." and its truth should be universal.

I don't know the answer to those questions, as I am probably as guilty of them as all of us. However, I do know that my actions, in certain circumstances, were wrong. Maybe I ought to kill those wrinkles more often.

A faster way to turn off the "overtype mode" is to press the insert key. Most likely that is what turned the "overtype mode" on in the first place. I too frequently hit the insert key when reaching for the backspace key after mistyping something. This is annoying, but there is a one-keystroke correction.
