Tip Of The Week Welcome to The Internet 800 Directory Newsletter, this Monday is Memorial Day for many people it’s the first holiday of the summer. But it’s important to remember that “Memorial Day” was established to remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect our way of life. Please participate in the National Moment of Remembrance and pause for one minute at 3:00 p.m. on Memorial Day, to remember and reflect on the sacrifices made by so many to provide us freedom. *01 Create A Slogan A slogan is a form of spoken logo. In web sites or print ads it will usually appears just beneath or beside the company name. Slogans take stock of what a company stands for and are especially useful to reinforce their identity. People will remember and recite good slogans and they help build loyalty and trust. Here are some examples of slogans I collected from a magazine. Drivers Wanted – Volkswagen The World On Time – FedEx Get The Feeling – Toyota It Pays To Discover – Discover Card The Art Of Performance – Jaguar Were With You All The Way – Hampton Inns Reach Out – AT&T What Can Brown Do For You – UPS Yes You Can – Windows XP When creating your slogan it’s important to follow these three guidelines: -1 Make it credible. -2 Make it easy to understand. -3 Make it memorable. Remember your slogan will become part of your branding and will become linked to your company, so avoid stylish words that may be out of fashion by next year. Put together a list of your top three slogan candidates and gather feedback from your employees, customers and total strangers. Once you choose a slogan that you like, stay with it, a good slogan will give you stability. Use your slogan everywhere. Think of it as being attached to your company name. Put it everywhere your name appears, business cards, printed ads, brochures, signs and letters. The new version includes a couple of new features that I found interesting. In my estimation the best new feature was “Tabbed Browsing” which lets you open multiple pages within a single browser window. You can then click between pages using a tabbed interface, removing the need to open multiple browsers. Another interesting feature was the “Click-to-Search”. This feature lets you perform a search using any word in a web page without having to leave the page. You select the words with your mouse, right-click and start a search using the selected words. The results then appear in a separate window and in the search tab in My Sidebar. This is a preview version, so they are still working out all the bugs, but if you want to try it out visit: http://channels.netscape.com/ns/browsers/7/default.jsp Chuck Arning chuck@inter800.com Vegas Vacation has the best rates on Las Vegas Hotel Rooms. When one installs Windows, it will automatically install a "Quick Launch" tool bar. Generally it will contain at least 3 - 5 icons, which by just resting one's pointer for a couple of seconds on top of each will reveal what they are. The most oft-used one launches Windows Explorer (the one with the blue "e"). The one most overlooked looks like a pencil on top of a pad (that is, if one uses magnifying glasses). It stands for "Show Desktop". Since I seem to always have 5- 10 different windows up at all times, I use this button continuously because one click simply pulls all of those windows to the tool bar, while not closing the programs and allows me to view my entire desktop.
