This week I was sent some feedback that I felt could be useful in making your web site more successful. This quote comes from Sue Nachor based on her experiences with her web site. Sue wrote: “NEVER OVERESTIMATE THE INTELLIGENCE OF THE PERSON COMING TO YOUR SITE! One has the misconception, that because someone has the intelligence to be using the Internet, that they can follow simple directions and instructions. NOT SO! And logic? Gee, no stronger in the Internet crowd at times than in the general population. One way to solve a problem that stems from this is make sure you have a link to your "Contact Us" page ON EVERY PAGE. Now, at the very top of every page in my web site is my 800 toll free number...and yet, more often than not, the customer will click on the "Contact Us" page to find the number to call!..I know this for a fact, because most of the time I spend online, (10-12 hours a day) I use tracking software and watch as a person goes from page to page and then clicks on the contact page and then calls.” In past newsletters I have made the point that contact information should be on every page of your web site. Sue’s observation that people still will click to the contact page before calling, even with the toll free number on every page was very informative. With all the time, effort and money spent gaining traffic to your web site, it’s extremely important to make sure your prospective customer can readily contact you. If you are not prominently displaying your toll free number on your web site, you are missing business opportunities. Remember, on the Internet your competition is only a click away. The number 1 country for the average time spent online per person was South Korea! Almost double the average of the US. Who'da thunk it? 2nd was Hong Kong, 3rd was the US, 4th was Japan and 5th was Canada. In addition, the average click-through for a banner was 0.36% in the US and 0.54% in South Korea. Another good example of why how targeted Priority-Positioned ads are so superior. Full stats are available at (http://internetweek.com/neteffects01).
