Newsletter ArchiveSUBJECT:NakedWife Virus Welcome to The Internet 800 Directory Newsletter. The Newsletter sent on 02-06-01 covered some tips on protecting your self from e-mail worms (such as, Lovebug and Kournikova). This week, a new e-mail virus hit the Internet and this one not only e-mails all the people in your contact list but deletes files needed to run Windows. This virus makes my statement ("These types of viruses don't do any real harm to your computer") wrong. This virus WILL harm your computer! It's called "NakedWife". When the virus is executed, it displays a Flash window that states "JibJab loading." While the file loads, the virus deletes DLL, INI, EXE, BMP, and COM files in the Windows and system directories. The mail has a subject line that reads "FW: Naked Wife." It has a message body that reads "My Wife never look like that :), Best Regards." The attachment is named NakedWife.exe. If you receive this e-mail don't run the attachment it or you will be sorry. For information on this virus visit: http://www.antivirus.com/ and search for NakedWife. The people making these viruses are getting more and more creative, so please follow the advice from that newsletter. Don't open an attachment if you didn't ask for it to be sent to you. If you receive an unsolicited attachment, call the person and ask why and what they sent you. If you don't know the person that sent it, delete it. Check all attachments with your virus software before opening. All Contents Copyright ©1995-2001 The Internet 800 Directory Subscribe To The Newsletter: |
