SUBJECT: New Search Engine

Today is the first Friday in August, and we are nearing the end of what has been a very hot and dry summer. Still, it's been a productive summer for The Internet 800 Directory. I wanted to take some time this week and cover some of the things that are happening with the directory.

Because of the growth the directory experienced in the last year, we have had a problem with the way our search engine indexed and returned some of the listings. So, a couple of months back, we started creating a new search engine for the directory. We completed testing and added it to the site Thursday. Since there is really no way for us to simulate hundreds of thousands of searches per day along with the strange things people might try to find, the real test starts today. If when using the directory this week you find any problems, please lets us know.

As some of you already know, our directory information and advertisers are accessible from many of the major sites. Let me give you an example: If you go to Excite http://yellowpages.excite.com/800/ and do search it will give the same return as if you searched our site. This is because they use our data. On our front page you will find links to some of the companies that use our 800 data. We have just completed three new contracts that I feel will greatly increase the accessibly of the directory. I can't go into detail yet, but don't be surprised if you can look up 800 numbers using your cell phone or by voice commands. You might also watch for new links on our front page as they will show up there long before any public release of the new relationships.

Because of our relation with Net2Phone, we have become a portal for consumers in other countries looking for products in the United States. By using Net2Phone and an 800 number they can call into the United States for free. Because of this marketplace we are creating a Spanish version of our directory to make it easier for them to find the products they want.

I want to thank those people who took the time to send me a note last week.
